KARNAATAKA SANGEETHAM

Karnaataka Sangeetham or Carnatic Music is the classical music of South India. A difficult art form to master at the best of times, Carnatic Music often evokes extreme responses, ranging from the ardent devotion of its faithful followers to revulsion towards its arcane structure from those less familiar with its nuances. As with many other classical art forms, complexity of structure and lack of information leads to a waning of popular interest here too. This website is an attempt to preserve the hoary traditions of Carnatic Music bequeathed to us, the rasikas, by wizardly vaggeyakaaras and the legendary vidwaans and vidushis who kept the flame burning through the ages. What sparked my interest and passion for this art form? You may find some answers here.
